Better riders. Happier and healthier horses. Powered by data.
The future of equestrian coaching — a data-driven coaching platform for riders, trainers, and riding schools
to improve horse welfare.
Great coaching has a blind spot. Coaching is still based on what we can see and feel. But the horse responds to forces the eye can't quantify. We turn the trainer's feel into objective data.
The key to a harmonious ride is your position in the saddle.
At Rider's Position, we believe that the key to a harmonious interaction with your horse depends on your position in the saddle. Every movement you make directly impacts your horse's performance and welfare.
That's why we created Rider's Position Coach — to help riders refine their technique and ride in the best possible way for their horse.
Using the sensors already inside your smartphone, Rider's Position Coach gives objective feedback on how you move in the saddle.
Not just what looks good. What the horse actually feels.
Built for every part of the equestrian world.
Improve your seat, and position, and communication with your horse through objective feedback after every measurement.
Turn your experience and feel into measurable insights. Use Rider's Position Coach as a coaching tool directly during lessons.
Bring data-driven coaching into your education. Track rider development, improve horse welfare, and modernize training.
Rider's Position is building the data layer for equestrian sport — a category-defining platform centered around rider biomechanics and horse welfare.
Four dimensions of how you move in the saddle.
The forces your horse feels — measured objectively after every ride.
A full ride analysis — four metrics, one complete picture.
How much force you put on the horse's back. In trot, the horse is constantly alternating between accelerating and decelerating. Together with the rider's weight, this generates an excessive impact on the horse's back. In our system, your impact is expressed in kilos.
The regularity of your rhythm. A regular rhythm is key to clear communication with your horse. We assess the consistency of your rhythm to enhance the effectiveness of your riding.
The stability and balance of your forwards and backwards movements. Are you before or after your horse's movements? A well-balanced rider moves smoothly with the horse, keeping a stable position when the horse alters between accelerating and decelerating.
The variation of your forwards and backwards movements. Your movements forward and backward should be balanced. We assess how even these movements are to help you maintain a stable position that is synchronized with the horse.
One phone. Five steps. Better riding.
No external sensors. No calibration. Nothing changes about how you ride.
Start a riding measurement.
Place your smartphone in a bum bag at your lower back.
Ride normally.
Receive objective feedback immediately after the measurement.
Improve over time with measurable insights and exercises.
Equestrian sport is still one of the world's largest sports built primarily on observation and feel.
We believe the future combines human expertise with objective data.
Rider's Position is building a new standard for equestrian coaching — helping riders improve, helping trainers coach more effectively, and helping riders and horses move more comfortably together.
Become a better rider — for you and your horse.
Rider's Position Coach helps you understand how you move in the saddle when you are riding and how it affects your horse. Because what feels balanced is not always what the horse experiences.
Get objective feedback after every ride and improve your riding between lessons.
- Improve balance and stability
- Improve rhythm and communication
- Reduce unnecessary impact on the horse
- Track your development over time

Every ride. A score. A direction.
See your overall score immediately after every ride — a single number that captures how your movement impacted your horse. Then drill into each metric to understand exactly what to improve next.
Four metrics. One complete picture.
Rhythm, stability, balance, and stability variation — the four dimensions of effective riding, measured every time. See exactly which metric to focus on to become more balanced in the saddle.
One phone. Zero setup. Infinite rides.
Start the app. Place your smartphone in a bum bag at your lower back. Ride normally. No sensors, no calibration, no changing how you ride. Just your horse, your riding, and honest data.
Useful, good and fun — it really helps me develop and I can share the analysis with my riding teachers and get a better understanding of what I need to correct.
— Hanna, Riding School Rider
I am so grateful for the personalised analysis of my seat and for all the exercises on how to improve it.
— Tuva, Dressage Rider
Finally, I can see in black and white how the interaction with my horse is. To complement my feelings with data will definitely give me the opportunity to become a better rider.

$300B+ Industry. Still Running on Tradition. Building the Data Layer for Equestrian Sport.
Equestrian sport is one of the world's largest lifestyle and sports markets — yet coaching is still largely based on observation and feel. Rider's Position introduces a new category: data-driven rider biomechanics focused on horse welfare and performance.
"Research on rider-centred factors has been fragmented — many riders are unaware of their own imbalances."
The Opportunity
AI is reshaping sport as a resilient asset class. Yet equestrian — one of the world's largest and most emotionally driven sports industries — is still running largely on tradition. Performance is still measured by the eye, not by data. That gap is the opportunity.
Why Now
The equestrian industry is entering a shift toward measurable performance, welfare-focused training, AI-assisted coaching, and digital education. The market is ready. The technology exists. The science is validated.
Co-founded by Charlotta Mantell — former Creative Director at Ericsson, lifelong rider — and Mari Zetterqvist Blokhuis, whose doctoral research in practical science became the scientific foundation of the measurement model. The mission was shaped alongside the late Professor Harry Blokhuis of SLU — Professor of Animal Welfare — whose life's work on the relationship between rider position and horse welfare gave this company its soul.
In August 2025, Garmin entered the equestrian market — validating the category we created. Garmin measures the horse. We are the only tool that measures the rider's effect on the horse. The problem we solve is not the same problem. The market we own is not the market they entered.

The Visionaries & Team
Developed with researchers from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and SLU Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
Better riders, happier and healthier horses. Powered by data.
We are building the data layer for equestrian riders grounded in horse welfare.
Our commercial ambition and our purpose are the same thing.
The founders of Rider's Position, Mari Zetterqvist Blokhuis and Charlotta Mantell, are both passionate riders and horse owners with a special interest in the interaction between rider and horse.
The connection between Charlotta and Mari began many decades ago, when Charlotta was grooming Mari's dressage horse named Gavott.
Their paths crossed again in 2019 when, with renewed enthusiasm and a glimpse of the potential of their combined skills, Charlotta and Mari decided to team up.
And so Rider's Position was born — a harmonious fusion of experience, curiosity, and love of riding.
Stockholm, Sweden. Founded 2019.
The future of equestrian coaching starts here.
We're building something meaningful.
Come build it with us.
We're a small, focused team based in Stockholm. We work on a problem we genuinely believe matters — the relationship between how riders move and how their horses feel beneath them.
When we grow, we grow with people who care about that problem in equal measure.
We're hiring for two voluntary roles: Head of Social and Head of Sales. If you care about horses, data, and building something real, we'd love to hear from you.
